The Bloomfield Education Foundation (BEF) is
an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3)
organization that encourages educational
excellence by supporting projects and
programs that enhance learning by students
in the Bloomfield Public Schools.
Started in 1999, the foundation has the
following mission and goals.
The Bloomfield Education Foundation, Inc. is
dedicated to acquiring and allocating funds
to provide Bloomfield public school students
with learning opportunities that extend
beyond the existing resources of our public
school system.
Goals
- Provide the opportunity for
individuals, neighborhood businesses,
community organizations and corporate
groups to lend their support in
partnering with the Bloomfield Public
Schools.
- Encourage creative and innovative
learning among staff and students.
- Provide supplemental financial and
in-kind resources that assist the
Bloomfield Public School System in
achieving its mission.
The organization is run by a group of
volunteers from across the community.
Through the school year ending in 2010, the
Bloomfield Education Foundation has granted
almost $220,000 to the schools. These funds
have supported 137 Ingenuity Grant Projects,
three capital projects, two after-school
programs for two years and have provided
Teacher-of-the-Year awards to those selected
since 2003. (see Funded
Programs for more information).
